A PROVEN RECORD IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND PRODUCT DELIVERY

Our founder and CEO, Dr. Kock-Yee Law, left Xerox 2012 to become an entrepreneur, scientist, and mentor.  He pursues his passion in research and education since.  The goal for his second career is to have fun by helping others succeed and facilitate more and better technologies to enrich humanity.  In 2012, he was appointed associate editor for "Surface Innovations" (ICE Publishing).  He guest edited two special themed issues on "Nanostructured Coatings, Surfaces and Films" for the journal in 2013 and 2014.  In 2015, Dr. Law was invited to join the editorial board as member for the journal Advances in Colloid and Interface Science (Elsevier).  Dr. Law is also active in volunteering and is an offical Career Consultant for the Amercian Chemical Society, where he mentors young chemists/scientists for their career path and professional development.  He also supports the career service center at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Dr. Law is an extremely prolific scientist and inventor.  He has published more than 125 papers in peer-reviewed
journals and filed over 140 US Patent Applications of which 116 of them have been granted today.  His latest research has resulted in two authoritative reviews on superoleophobicity and superhydrophobicity, one research paper in redefining surface definitions, a new book entitled "Surface Wetting. Characterization, Contact Angle, and Fundamentals" published by Springer, and two new patent applications related to the application of self-cleaning technology in paints and fabrics.

Dr. Law has been invited to speak in numerous professional society meetings.  In recent years, Dr. Law has been very active in the NSTI Nanotech Conferences, the biggest annual Nanotech Conference in the United States.   He has been organizer and chair for the symposium on Structured Surfaces, Coatings and Membranes since 2010.  The Nanotech2016 conference will be held in Washington DC from May 22 to 25, 2016. Details can be found at: www.techconnectworld.com/Nanotech2016.   Dr. Law is also offering a 1-day short course on "Structured Surfaces and Coatings. Characterization, Industrial Applications and Challenges" on May 22, 2016.  The course description is located at: www.techconnectworld.com/world2016/workshops/516.html.  This course was rated as "beyond expectation" by more than 40% of the participants since 2013.  The course has also been offered in several corporate labs on an appointment basis.  In addition to the surface course, Dr. Law has also designed several more short courses related to the printing industry.  These courses are: Nanotechnology and Opportunities for Digital Printing, Recent Advances in Nanotechnology, Surface Ink Interactions and Surface Characterization, and Direct 3D Fabrication and Ink Printing.  Some of them have already offered at the IMI Inkjet Conference and Tradeshow (2012 and 2014) and IS&T's Digital Fabrication and Digital Printing (NIP30) Conferences (2014 and 2015).

Throughout the years, Dr. Law has conducted research in many different fields. His latest interest is in Nanotechnology, particularly micro, nanostructured surfaces, and the phenomena of wetting, adhesion, and self-cleaning.  He co-invented a self-cleaning polymer coating that was being implemented at Xerox Webster.  Dr. Law has also worked with nanomaterials and nanocomposites and was a world renowned scientist in the 90s for his work in organic photoconductors, electronic spectroscopy, and the phenomena of charge transfers.

Dr. Law started acquiring project, management, and people skills in the mid-90s.  In 1999, he ventured into product development.  He championed global collaboration (with Fuji Xerox) and led cross organization teams to successfully develop office color printer technologies for Xerox products.  Dr. Law has since become a competent practitioner in technology productization and innovation.  He is a certified Lean-Six-Sigma Black Belt and is familiar with various quality and lean tools.

In the spirit of continuous learning, Dr. Law also completed executive training courses at the California Institute of Technology on: "Management of Technology Innovation" in 2003 and "Strategic Marketing of Technology Products" in 2005.
